Batman: Caped Crusader Review
Batman: Caped Crusader will be a treat for fans of the nostalgic style of the 90s animated series, but the plot offers nothing compelling to excite viewers. At times, Batman: Caped Crusader struggles to find its audience, often focusing on more adult themes but then reverting to a more classic style.
Lady In The Lake: Review
A stylised noir whose murder mystery takes a backseat to showcase the two female characters whose lives are entwined. It is a story of reinvention, survival and finding the truth in a world that wants to keep things hidden.
Space Cadet: Review
Space Cadet is dull with irritating characters that offer no comedic value or anything enjoyable to keep you focused or laugh. It is trying hard to be a movie reminiscent of typical 2000s movie tropes but lacks any charm of coherent plot to keep you going.
My Lady Jane: Review
While My Lady Jane is an alternative history, adding the fantasy element of the Verity vs Ethians and how this all came to be added an interested backdrop that elevates the show into something more than a comedic piece. Sometimes My Lady Jane can struggle finding its balance between the comedic and dramatic, but that doesn’t take away from it being an enjoyable watch.
Land of Women
A fun series that has the perfect balance of frantic energy and an immeasurable amount of heart. Everything is heightened and it makes for a great series to enjoy with ease while taking in the beautiful landscape and a memorably great cast of characters that each have their own mysteries that weave together perfectly.
Orphan Black: Echoes
Orphan Black: Echoes has potential, but it lacks the strength of its predecessor. Sometimes it seems like the twists take a little longer to reach their destination but its strengths lie in the latter half of the season. Orphan Black: Echoes has a more compelling plot when it concentrates on the ethical ramifications of the revolutionary science and does enough to stand on its own.
Bridgerton Season 3: Review
Splitting the season in two had a clear impact on the pacing and by adding a mid-season break that broke apart the much needed urgency needed to keep the story going and give it any hope of substance. While there was a slightly more serious tone to the latter part of the season, having a romantic leading couple that lacked chemistry and writing that had no clear or cohesive structure has ensured that the third season of Bridgerton is its weakest. Fans of the series already know it has been renewed for a fourth season, one can only hope that the writers and showrunner has learnt from the many mistakes of the third season.
The Boys Season 4: Review
The fourth season of The Boys delivers on the over-the-top, gore filled, satire show that fans have come to love. Compared to the previous seasons, the writing has more of a direction which works in the show's favor. Having The Boys' faction deal with their real-world issues while contrasting with the Supes and their manufactured saves and lives offers a delightful season, while setting up the fifth season perfectly.
House of The Dragon, Season 2: Review
House of the Dragon returns with bloodier but with richer characters and plot as the Green and Blacks fight for the crown. The season is a deeper look at the characters as they go behind each other's back to enact vengeance with devastating impact. From the score to the camera work and performance, everything is elevated and uses the substance over the characters to deliver heart wrenching blows after violent confrontations. If you are team Green or Black, both factions deliver quality and blood.
Am I Okay? Review
Dakota Johnon’s awkward charm carries through perfectly for this movie and its themes. A late-coming-of-age movie that centres around late bloomers and self-discovery makes for an amiable watch with friendship at its core and the message that discovering yourself or your passions comes at any age that many will find comfort in. It is an ordinary movie that makes you feel accepted and is enjoyable to watch, no matter where you are in life.
