High Potential
High Potential offers viewers an enjoyable crime drama that doesn’t focus on the bleakness of the crimes that Morgan and Karadec solve. Instead, it showcases how Morgan is an integral part of the team. High Potential proves to be a clever, witty show that has a perfect ensemble. The new crime a week has been a common formula for most detective-based shows, but High Potential really does bring a fresh take to it with Kaitlin Olsen bringing the right amount of chaotic, carefree energy.
Kaos: Review
An entertaining, dark but comedic and grounded series that takes on Greek Myths and updates them for a modern setting while keeping them grounded to make the show fun and feel epic. If you know the myths and characters, there are still new takes built into the story that weaves together with care. Goldblum is a selling point of a series and is fantastic as the malicious but funny Zeus, yet it is the three humans and Dionysus that steal the series. Netflix should continue this story as there is more to tell and many more myths to look forward to with Kaos’ immersive world and shocking moments.
Rings of Power: Review
Some plots in Rings of Power flow with purpose and speed, while others drag on or, worse, circle back on themselves. Rings of Power has a hard time walking the tightrope between providing a sophisticated political fantasy setting and going into too much detail, which turns the game into more of a didactic than an enjoyable experience. In addition, you nearly feel deceived by the pointless side stories and acting, particularly following the scenes involving Sauron and Celebrimbor.
Emily in Paris: Review
Emily in Paris returns for its fourth and final season and fans of the show will be delighted to hear that Emily has finally made a decision in terms of her romantic endeavours! While the series is lacking in the female friendship, it delivers in swoon-worthy moments that is key for any romantic drama.
One Fast Move: Review
One Fast Move delivers an insight of stronger hustles, while also keeping the drive and devotion alive. For any enthusiast of a bike and racing, the film shows the limitations of the sport, which is a battered and bruised legacy, but with hope and passion; anyone can cross the finish line. This movie delivers an insight of stronger hustles, while also keeping the drive and devotion alive.
Batman: Caped Crusader Review
Batman: Caped Crusader will be a treat for fans of the nostalgic style of the 90s animated series, but the plot offers nothing compelling to excite viewers. At times, Batman: Caped Crusader struggles to find its audience, often focusing on more adult themes but then reverting to a more classic style.
Lady In The Lake: Review
A stylised noir whose murder mystery takes a backseat to showcase the two female characters whose lives are entwined. It is a story of reinvention, survival and finding the truth in a world that wants to keep things hidden.
Orphan Black: Echoes
Orphan Black: Echoes has potential, but it lacks the strength of its predecessor. Sometimes it seems like the twists take a little longer to reach their destination but its strengths lie in the latter half of the season. Orphan Black: Echoes has a more compelling plot when it concentrates on the ethical ramifications of the revolutionary science and does enough to stand on its own.
Bridgerton Season 3: Review
Splitting the season in two had a clear impact on the pacing and by adding a mid-season break that broke apart the much needed urgency needed to keep the story going and give it any hope of substance. While there was a slightly more serious tone to the latter part of the season, having a romantic leading couple that lacked chemistry and writing that had no clear or cohesive structure has ensured that the third season of Bridgerton is its weakest. Fans of the series already know it has been renewed for a fourth season, one can only hope that the writers and showrunner has learnt from the many mistakes of the third season.
House of The Dragon, Season 2: Review
House of the Dragon returns with bloodier but with richer characters and plot as the Green and Blacks fight for the crown. The season is a deeper look at the characters as they go behind each other's back to enact vengeance with devastating impact. From the score to the camera work and performance, everything is elevated and uses the substance over the characters to deliver heart wrenching blows after violent confrontations. If you are team Green or Black, both factions deliver quality and blood.
