While My Lady Jane is an alternative history, adding the fantasy element of the Verity vs Ethians and how this all came to be added an interested backdrop that elevates the show into something more than a comedic piece. Sometimes My Lady Jane can struggle finding its balance between the comedic and dramatic, but that doesn’t take away from it being an enjoyable watch.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is a fantastic horror teen drama and manages to feel fresh in a world where teen dramas are a little oversaturated due to streaming. Despite the shorter episode count, Little Liars is a strong follow-up to Original Sin, elevating the genre and making for an enjoyable watch.

Fellow Travelers is an aesthetically pleasing period piece that captures the anxiety and anguish of being a gay person in the 1950s. The show could have easily been a cliched love triangle between Hawk, Lucy Smith, and Tim, but it successfully veered away from that overused plot without taking the emotional hurt that Lucy and Tim endure by loving Hawk. The new additions bring a new layer to the story, but it is the exceptional performances from Bailey and Bomer that drive the story forward in such a way that you will root for the two men to be together while hoping they stay apart, if only for Tim’s happiness.

Heartstopper season 2 is a joyous continuation that nobody should be offended at. It makes you feel welcoming, seen and explores characters with a complexity of emotion and experiences.

Going beyond the original can be risky and often results in losing what the audience enjoyed, but Good Omens successfully goes beyond the original to strengthen the bond between (Aziraphale) Michael Sheen and Crowley (David Tennant).

Season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty relies on common tropes and conventions associated with coming-of-age narratives that fail to make the series stand out in this romantic genre category. Episodes border on repetitive with performances that lack in energy.
